Let us transport you to the annual Try Before You Ride event where you will learn how to plan, take and enjoy Melbourne's public transport.
What is Try Before You Ride.........
This Public Transport Try Before You Ride event helps people of all abilities feel more confident using trains, trams, buses, and accessible taxis. The event offers a program where participants can try out different forms of transport in a safe and comfortable environment, learn about payment methods, find out about accessibility features, such as how to navigate public transport with a motorised mobility device and aids. Transport staff will be on hand to support you during the event and provide all the information you need to feel comfortable on Melbourne’s public transport.

How to get there...........
Local Transit is collaborating with MTM and the City of Melbourne Council to provide wheelchair-accessible transport to eligible participants who wish to attend this event.
Who can participate...........
We welcome you onboard if you:
1. Do not currently feel confident using, or do not know how to use, public transport in Melbourne.
And
2. Live within approximately 5 km of the Melbourne CBD - Carlton, North Melbourne, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Richmond, North Richmond, South Yarra, Flemington, Collingwood, Abbottsford, Parkville and Kensington.
And
3. Have one of the following:
· A disability requiring them to use a wheelchair or motorized mobility devise.
· Legally blind.
· Use a service assistance dog.
· Anxiety disorders.
· Restricted mobility, such as older people especially those using a walking frame.
· Linguistic or cultural challenges.
Logistics..............
Our drivers will pick up participants in their suburbs, transport them to Southern Cross Station, escort participants to the event check-in point, and then transport them back home after the event.
You will spend about 2 hours at the event, where you will be free to visit all forms of transport to learn how to use each one, and to be guided by expert transport staff.
